April 11-14 San Antonio Trip

This trip was so fun because it was our 8 year anniversary trip and it just so happened we needed to find a house without any kids before we moved so we got to have a kid free Anniversary weekend! It was so great being able to spend the time with just Derek before he started his intern year. I fell in love with San Antonio almost instantly. Well, it took about a day, but this trip made all my worries go away. It made me feel like this is really where our family is meant to be and that everything would work out.

Day 1

We found our home in a quick decision about 2 weeks before we were planning to go find a home in San Antonio. The houses for rent were disappearing within days on the rent searches and anything we liked was just gone, so when we found this home in the school we wanted, right distance to work, right price range we jumped on it, and were lucky enough to have gotten into this awesome home! We had to get it a month before we were able to move in, but it has been so worth it!!!
I LOVE OUR HOME!
It's 2400 square feet, 4 bedrooms, 2 1/2 bathrooms, with a loft for a play room.
This Mama is HAPPY!
The first thing we did when we got out of the airport was well first was food and the food here has been awesome, but then the first thing besides food was go to our new home. We didn't have the key and had an appointment with our realtor for the next morning, but we were able to walk around and take pictures.

I'm totally going to say this wrong, but we ate at Papoulli's a Greek restaurant for lunch before seeing the house. Amazing yumminess and too close to our home so I will crave it all the time.

It is so true what they say about Texas, everything is BIGGER in Texas!
This was not day one, but our food was so yummy. It was fun that Derek got to spend a month scoping out amazing restaurants just for this occasion. Ok maybe he was working, but it did make it worth while!

I honestly can't remember what we did which day anymore, however one of the days we went to the river walk at downtown San Antonio and did a river tour. The boat took you along the river all around downtown and a tour guide told you all the historical facts about San Antonio and all about downtown San Antonio. It was super fun and we are planning on taking the kids once they are a few years older for a history lesson. :)
The river tour.
REMEMBER THE ALAMO! :)

The mall was awesome. It had an amazing movie theater with recliners! We sat in these HUGE recliners that prop your feet up and I don't think I ever will do movie theaters that are normal again. It was AMAZING!

We stopped by Kael and Eden's elementary school. We were able to go inside and talk to the secretary who then had the principal call us to see if we had any other questions. I'm so excited about this school. They were so friendly. Those 3 windows are the first grade section. Just to the left of the picture will be where Eden goes to pre-K. They will have to get up super early because the bus will pick them up at 6:30 am! Eek.
Favorite restaurant hands down. I have come to LOVE BBQ here in Texas!
RUDY'S
If you come visit us here, we will take you to Rudy's!

So messy, but SO GOOD!
More yummy food from the trip. We are carnivores if you haven't noticed...
I'm pretty for certain it was Sunday that we went to the temple. It was so fun! There was a youth group doing a service project so the gates were open! It is weird that the gates aren't always open, but here the temple isn't used as much as Utah temples. So excited that we have this temple only 30 minutes from our house!

We got sea food for lunch when we drove to Corpus Cristi for the day. Corpus Cristi is only about 2 1/2 hours away from our house. We LOVE living close enough to go to a beach on the weekend if we want. The restaurant was by a pier and after we ate lunch on the pier we drove to the beach off Padre Island.
A Pirate Boat on the Pier.

On the pier they had a statue of the famous Latin singer Selena as a tribute because she was from Corpus Cristi. I'll be the doofus who gets her picture with a statue any day. IT WAS SELENA!
At the gulf coast. The water was so much warmer than the Pacific! There were washed up jelly fish and jumping fish and shells and broken silver dollars! Let's just say, my kids are going to love this!

One of the days we went to the Mexican market and tried to find souveniers for the kids. We decided on cowboy hats because you aren't a REAL Texan unless you have a cowboy hat, and cowboy hats they got!
Kael fell on his face on his scooter while we were gone, but it just made him look more cowboy anyway.
Happy to be home with these kiddos!
