May 2016

On May 5th Eden received the Thunderbird award in May for her kindergarten class. It is basically student of the month. It was fun because her good friend Taylor Walker got it at the same time. It was a nice for Eden to get recognized especially since she had such a rough month in April getting her appendix out, being sick, and moving houses. Eden has had a lot to deal with in her short little life and she handles it with grace and I admire her so much. She is a strong, resilient, and brave little girl and I'm so proud of her working so hard at school even with so much going on.

 May 6th
Sometimes a boy just needs to sleep in.

May 7th (Odin)
Odin has been finding some of the most unusual ways to relax...
May 13th Presents came from Grandma and Grandpa Heaton!

Brad and Hannah Pinkston came for a visit on their way back to California! We LOVE cousins! We got to meet baby Everett for the first time and he was dreamy and we love him! Connor and him were already having play time and it was the best!
May 14th
We took a family vacation to Corpus Christi again because we needed some good quality family time after the last month. It didn't disappoint. The beach, hotel, swimming, and more beach and fun food was just what we needed to rejuvenate and get back into a more normal routine.

On May 29th Eden lost her first tooth! She decided she really wanted to keep her tooth and refused to put it under her pillow and that her tooth couldn't be "bought". So, Mom wrote the tooth fairy a letter and explained and the tooth fairy was kind enough to write a note back saying she could keep her tooth and still earn a dollar. It was a good day.

April 2016

April was a whirlwind of a month.
April 1st started with what I was praying was an April Fool joke, but sadly was not. Our lease was voided before we could renew it which meant we had until April 30th to find a new home to rent. It became official on April 4th. We immediately began looking for a home to rent where I could still drive the kids to school and not far for Derek. Our prayers were answered and we quickly found a home that was for sale, but I called and that very weekend they decided to rent it out instead. We were able to get a 2 year lease so we won't have to move again before residency is over.

On Saturday night April 2nd Eden woke up with horrible abdominal pain and a fever. Sunday morning the 3rd Derek took her to the hospital, which turned out to be appendicitis. Eden got her appendix removed that night.

Kael had strep throat on the way to Carlsbad Caverns and thankfully no one else got it while we were there, but on Tuesday the 4th of April Elara got strep throat. Then, on I sent Eden back to school on Thursday the 7th and she came home with a fever and we had to take her back to the emergency room and she got strep throat. Then, somewhere in the month Eden got a bad urine infection and someone started puking. We literally had viral, bacterial, and surgery all in one month.

On April 12th we had a HUGE hail storm. The hail was so big it was the size of golf balls. I was able to run out and clear a spot for the van from the move in the garage, but poor Derek's car took a beating. Our screens had holes in the them and the fence has dents.

Derek and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary on April 15th.

We were able to move into the new house on Saturday April 23rd, and officially out of the old house on Friday the 29th which was Connor's birthday.

Connor turned 1 on April 29th. Sadly, being the 4th child and with the move and sickos we didn't get to party very much. We did get him his own cake from the store that night and he went to town on it. Unfortunately it tasted like store bought cake and was quite gross. I'll have to make him something extra special next year.

Sick kids

Our jasmine vines bloomed and smelled so so good right before we had to move. I will miss them the most.
All the tree leaves from the hail storm.

My poor sick baby girl.

Coming home from the hospital. Poor thing was so sick and in so much pain.

So, when she got a fever 4 days post op I had to take her to the emergency room to make sure it wasn't anything to worry about... I dropped off the other kids at a friends house who happened to have the missionaries there. They offered to give Eden a blessing and so they came out to the car as she was so so sick again and couldn't move from her fever. I had given her tylenol but it hadn't kicked in yet. The missionaries blessed her to have a good experience at the emergency room and that she would feel better quickly... The above picture was her during the entire ER visit...
I was right. Strep throat.
I kept laughing because that blessing was a little too good, and she didn't seem sick enough for an ER visit the entire time. I was just glad it wasn't anything worse.

ER visit for strep throat.

Connor was super sick all week. He kept pulling on his ears so we wanted to get them checked to make sure it wasn't an ear infection. All the clinics were closed and no one would see him and so they told us to go to the emergency room. So off we went for a possible ear infection to the emergency room. Thank you government healthcare for that expensive visit for the general public only to be told it is viral. Just glad the little boy wasn't too sick.
Eden was of course student of the week the week she was gone for her appendix.
Always enjoy shopping with these two.

It's great to turn 1!
Hail damage.

Eden celebrated fiesta for school and decided to make a castle float to pull.

10 year Anniversary flower from my sweet Derek.

Dear Rick and Juli,
When will we will come visit?

She is too adorable.

After moving Kael's basketball hoop we found this huge toad.
The kids took pictures of Odin at the new house and helped him jump in boxes...

Sick sick kids. Someone was always sick.

Everyone enjoyed Connor playing in his birthday cake. More than eating it for sure, although he did eat quite a bit.

The snakes are out. We found this skin at the old house as we were moving and everyone thought it was a good idea to keep it next to the kitchen sink. Thanks guys. haha

Our first dinner in the new house! Wendy's.
