Poo Poo

No, I'm not potty training I promise. This is what happens when my 19 month old is insisting that she needs to poo poo on the potty, but won't sit on it. For months now Eden has been grabbing her diaper and saying there is poop in it. Most of the time it is just pee, which she does not like having either. The girl just doesn't like having a dirty diaper on. This is too weird for me. Kael was so oblivious to this fact forever. I mean he still would run around with poop in his underwear and never tell me if he ever had an accident (which he doesn't anymore).
We decided to buy a small potty for Eden to just sit on and get familiar with so that when she is maybe 2 or 2 1/2 she'd like to potty train with. Again, no rush. This little frog came to our apartment last night and we got it out and the girl is obsessed with it. She wanted to run around naked and sit on it for about 2 hours last night. She did get some poop out while sitting on it and has peed 3 times in it. She has not mastered knowing when she needs to pee before it happens, but holy smokes people my baby peed in a potty! First thing this morning she grabbed the potty and wanted to be naked to sit on it. And yes, she did pee in the potty. It won't be an all the time thing because I really don't want her running around naked all day long, but the girl is on fire. I'm not going to even try to think about potty training her because I'm not ready and I just can't believe a child that young could accomplish it, but who am I. I'm just glad she can't take off her diaper yet, however she has been trying so very hard.
She's amazing and super cute, and I love seeing her chunky thighs running around naked.
Way to go Eden!

What do you do in the bathtub?

We makes ginormous water balloons and have a blast!

My Kids are Goofy

Sometimes I just like taking pictures of the kids. Unedited, unfocused, raw pictures. They are so silly and I hate having to go through and delete so many pictures. I took about 20 pictures of the kids just being silly and I'm only going to save maybe 4... I just don't want to forget this time of their lives. They are such amazing little spirits and I love being their mom. Time is just going too quickly. I love these 2 kids so much!
Eden's smile when I said say cheese! She pulls the silliest faces. She wouldn't crack a smile for the life of me when we had a photo shoot the other day. It was not cool... I tell her to say cheese and then I get this weird face. I love it! She is such a stinker and I just want to squish her cheeks!
Kael in his hat I made him. I got the kids to wear the hats for about 5 minutes total. That is progress! I had to put on the hat I made for myself last year to even get them interested in the hats. We went outside and after a couple pictures the hats were off. I asked Kael how old he was and he held up his hand and said, "I'm 5 mom!". I think that is his favorite number. He knows he is 3 and he usually tells you 3, but he is a little obsessed with 5. Oh well. I'm just glad he knows numbers and is speaking! He is getting so smart. All around the courtyard people have pumpkins on their windows. He walks by and says, "5 pumpkins mom, 3 pumpkins, 2 etc" He can count them in his head and knows. I was really surprised when he started doing this. He loves numbers. It makes me so happy to see him learning!
Eden being a stinker outside. I love her little leggings. I found that pair for $1 at a garage sale. I want more!

Eden's 19 Month Letter

Dearest Eden,

Stop being a stinker! I love how you are just hugging my leg right now. It is the least stinkerish thing you've done in a while. You are still the princess and you still have your adorably sweet moments, but lately you have turned into a scary creature! You have finally figured out how to stick up for yourself with Kael and it has caused a lot of fighting between you two. You are so opinionated it is ridiculous. I love that you know what you like and don't like though.

Lately you have been falling down and bonking your poor little head a LOT. You have two bruises on your forehead that look like devil horns, which kind of go because of how you are acting this last month.

You are not a fan of naps, or sleeping in general. You fight it all the time. However, I can't really blame you because I remember fighting naps myself when I was little...

You are an amazing little girl! You are so creative and talented and independent! I love who you are and I love being with you all day, stinker and all!

I learned not to let you and Kael paint together for very long with my back turned. Kael had painted your hair pink, and circles and lines on your back and stomach. You came to give me a big hug and I got paint all over my pants. I hope I learned my lesson.

You love playing with your friends. You love playing with Jaycee, Benji, and Sydnie a lot right now. Lately, you have gotten a little bossy, but you still for the most part play pretty well with other little kids. It is super cute and I love how you know your friends names and ask to play with them all the time.

You are the sweetest spirit Eden! I love you! Thanks for coming to our family!
Love you forever,
Mom

More Projects: I've been busy

First, I hemmed Derek's pants. I was quite pleased that I actually did a somewhat straight line. Yes, somewhat... Still working on that. Only like 5 more pairs of pants to go. It took me a while, and I only had to watch the YouTube video like 10 times, but I'm figuring this sewing stuff out, and I'm enjoying it!
Here is the project I am currently working on. Our Halloween costumes! Hopefully I can turn this pile of fabric into "The Flinstones" family. It is for certain not going to be anything fancy, I'll just be lucky to have our bodies covered, but it was cheap and I'm hoping for the best. Pictures will come around Halloween time. I've got a lot to do to finish!
This next project was super fun! I got this tulling for .75 cents per yard.
I then created these two beauties!
I love the internet. You can find just about anything you want. These tutu's were so easy to make. I just cut up the tulle and then tied it onto a ribbon and wallah! Eden loves it and so do I!
After I finish the halloween costumes I'm going to look up how to make Kael a superman cape. I feel bad I haven't made anything fun for him and I don't want to leave him out. It should be a fun project!

My Hubby Made the Front Page of "The Salt Lake Tribune"

Matt Sorensen in Derek's research project took over the Bench to Bedside program for the University of Utah. Trying to advertise the program they did an article in the Salt Lake Tribune. So, Derek's group got to be recognized. They made the front page! This first picture was on the front page. The second photo wasn't shown, but their project was shown on page A5. I'm so proud of Derek and all of his accomplishments. He is an excellent medical student, and I have no doubt in my mind he is going to be an amazing doctor and help so many people. He has a huge heart and is a wonderful husband and father! I'm the luckiest girl in the world and feel so blessed to have Derek in my life! I LOVE YOU DEREK! Thank you for working so hard for our family! Way to go!

My 2011 Projects

I got started on our winter hats a little earlier this year. I finished one for Kael and Eden, but haven't done any for Derek or I yet. I have found a couple awesome patterns and I'm excited to see what I can create this year. I went with brimmed hats for the kids and I'm liking them that I know I want one for me and Derek now. I think I will make one more for each kid too. I want a button flowered beanie with scallops for Eden, and another regular hat for Kael. I've got my work cut out for me! However, before I do the rest of the beanies I am going to sew halloween costumes for our entire family. "Wish me luck as this is a first for me." I found all the material I need for less than $30 for all of us combined... I am hoping it will be awesome. But, we will see. Then, I found some super cheap tulling at JoAnn's and bought a bunch to make tutu's for Eden. I'm kicking myself for not buying enough to make myself a tutu. I've always wanted one. Sigh... Serious too! I figure I'd get a lot of stares though so I resisted. I'm getting excited for my projects. This month is going to be busy! Yay!
 Kael's hat
Eden's hat. It was suppose to have a button, but it was too big for the flower, so I'll put it on another hat.

Month 38 for Kael

 Dearest Kael,

Another month down, which means you are a month older. I think these months are going by faster and faster each month. Slow down ok kid. You are turning into quite the little helper. This makes me so happy! You still stress me out, but you have started obeying so much better. You will always have your moments, but I can ask you to clean up your toys in the tub and you do it. I ask you to grab your pajamas and you do it. I ask you to put something in the trash and you do it. These little things have made life a little better. You don’t like to sleep with your door shut anymore which is annoying, but that’s life. You are so fun and are developing your own fun personality even more.

Last night you really didn’t want to pray. You were whining so much saying no prayer over and over. All of a sudden in your whiney voice you say, “ Heavenly Father, AMEN!”
I had a good laugh. Then I helped you pray and you really liked it. You are really creative. You love to draw pictures and paint. I just bought some paints and you went to town. You take after your Dad and are really quite artistic. At your 3 year old check up the doctor asked you to draw a picture of your Mom so you would be occupied so she could look at Eden. In about 2 minutes you had a picture of my face and showed the doctor my eyes, ears, nose, mouth. She was so impressed and so was I.

I love you buddy! You are so talented! You are a joy to be around. Knock on wood, but I am enjoying you being 3.

Love you Bud,
Mom

Here are your photos. You really don't like to look at the camera anymore. You'd rather take the picture.
