Elder and Sister Heaton

On Saturday we had a going away party for my parents. They are going to the Oakland and San Francisco California Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They will be gone for 2 years. All of your children love you both and are so proud of you!
On Sunday they spoke in church in Mocassin, AZ. Both gave excellent talks and then after church they were set apart as missionaries.
They left on Monday for the Missionary Training Center in Provo. My Uncle Mark through a going away breakfast for them and a lot of my dad's family were able to make it. Thanks for going all who could! It turned out to be a great turn out!
Also last night Tuesday night I got a phone call from my mom! They said they are doing GREAT! They are being fed soooooo well! They have 3 meals a day with desert if they want! She said starting the next day she is going to have to start taking a salad because they were being fed TOO well! =) They were able to practice the first discussion and are doing the second today. They had a fireside last night and heard from a member of the quorum of the seventy. Sorry I can't remember who she said... They even have a missionary couple who's mission is to take care of the couple missionaries at the MTC. So, this couple has been making sure they are doing GREAT!
My mom even said that someone found her some WD40 for her "SQUEAKY LEG BRACE"! Thanks to whoever did that! =) Here are some pictures from our family pool party.
WE LOVE YOU MOM AND DAD! WAY TO GO! Sister Heaton

Lots of Kael

Oh NO I got caught!
Kael LOVES this mirror. When I am working at my computer in the mornings he plays with his toys in front of it and checks himself out... It is pretty funny. I have totally given up trying to keep the mirror clean. He also really likes grabbing medicine bottles and biting them with his teeth. I haven't seen this yet though and I thought it was too funny not to take a picture.
Oh well...

We took Kael swimming for the first time on Saturday the 16th. It was so much fun! Kael has always LOVED bath time so we were hoping he would like the pool and it was a definate success! We loaded him up with spf 70 that said it lasts 80 minutes twice in an hour period! He still got pink! Poor kid is definately going to have my fair skin...

Thanks Kelly for having a GREAT B-day party so that we could all enjoy the pool!

We tried out a mo hawk with his sunblock.

I love Kael's smile in this picture!

The black pug called Seebee had to show off her new and pretty swimsuit. Kael LOVES animals! Especially Seebee! He screams for joy whenever he sees her and tries to grab at her!

April into May

On April 15th Derek and I celebrated our 3 year Anniversary. Time sure has flown. He got me these beautiful flowers and we had to wait to celebrate as Derek was still in school. We were able to celebrate by going to a Brian Regan show that came here to St. George. It was awesome! He is a stand-up comedian and he was so funny! Even the guy that was before him had me laughing so hard I had to massage my cheeks throughout the show! If any of you haven't watched his DVD's I recommend you buying them!

All of Derek's friends from high school are about to move away to other states and go to medical school or the military. We sure are going to miss them! We decided we needed to have a fun get together before we all go our separate ways and Derek's parents were kind to let us borrow their cabin for this. We had a blast! A couple of things we did were the Wii, fourwheeling, and roast hot dogs.

Oh ya.... Kael's favorite part was Buckbeak the Hippogriff!!! =)

For a Kael update he is now 9 months old! He is officially crawling and every once in a while still does "the worm" or his scooting! He now has two teeth!!! We have waited a long time for these guys and are glad they are here! He is taking naps in his crib and is sleeping from 7 pm to 6:30 am!!!! This is a milestone for us and has been going on for about a month now! He is such a good baby and we love him so much!

One of THOSE Days...

It is totally going to be one of THOSE days today... Already before 9 am, as I am sitting at the computer my baby has pooped all over me and him... I threw him in the tub and he did NOT like that...

I get him calmed down and cleaned up, me too, and of course he falls and hits his head on the floor...

I get him calmed down again, and as I'm holding him I get spit up on and it runs down my entire leg after I just got cleaned up...

I think it is officially nap time!

MCAT, WEDDING, BABIES

My friend Ashley Gafa Higbee called the other day to let me know she is having a baby!!! We are sooooooooo excited for her!!! Turns out it is TWINS!!! We love ya Ashley! You are going to be a GREAT mom!

Derek's friend Mical Hanzal from the Czech Republic is going to be getting married in the temple this August! Derek was able to baptize him and give him the priesthood. He just got off his mission in Sep. from Germany. We are so proud of him and love him like a brother!

AND last for good news....... Da da da.....
Derek's MCAT scores came this morning.........
SCROLL DOWN

31

YAY FOR DEREK!!!! For those who don't know how to interpret the score this is a good score! It was higher than we were expecting, so we are VERY pleased! I'm so proud of Derek! He has studied so hard and put a lot of time into getting straight A's this semester and working for the mcat and I couldn't be more proud and happy for him!!!
We have decided that he is going to retake it even though he got such a good score. We have a school we would like to try to get into and the better the score, the better his chances. Since he will have more time this summer to study compared to spring break for one week we think it will be a good opportunity.

He is currently working on his application and will be submitting it in June. Not sure when he will retake the mcat.... Hopefully we will start getting secondary applications in July and August and then interviews from there.

So....... Wish us luck!!!!! Thanks for all the support from our families and friends! We love you all!

New Foods

We went to Chilis for my nieces birthday and Kael got to try new foods. He loved the french fries and lemon. This will probably only be allowed on special occasions for now, but he sure loved this stuff!

Welcome to Motherhood

Ever since Kael was born I've had this thought go to my head with each new experience Kael has brought me, "Welcome to Motherhood". I don't think it sarcastically or anything like that, I'm just really excited that this is the stage in my life! When Kael was born "Welcome to Motherhood", first smile, Kael waking up every half hour through the night, first time he rolled over, cutting my finger with a knife really good, things like that...

Last night however, caused this phrase to come to my head and appreciate all mothers in the world especially my own... I've worked in the emergency room facing all sorts of disgusting things mind you, so last night when my son's stomach wasn't feeling so great and he vomited all over me from head to toe, hair soaked with sweet potatos and about 8 oz of milk that he just drank, was without a doubt in my mind "WELCOME TO MOTHERHOOD"...

Derek was too sweet and took care of Kael while I got to take a shower. I felt so bad for Kael, but now at least a know no matter how much my baby spits up, it is not that bad! =0)

Swing

Your Baby Can Read

We got Kael the videos "Your Baby Can Read". We wanted him to watch educational shows once we started realizing that when we have him in a room with us he takes in everything on the screen. We decided maybe we should already start filtering what he is watching... We saw this on the television one night, we really don't watch tv, but I randomly flipped to it one day. These shows are amazing! It took a little while for Kael to actually get into it, but he can sit and watch the show and he laughs at certain parts and it entertains him while he is learning. It is so true that babies love to learn! He loves this brain stimulation just as much as he loves learning how to crawl, which by the way he is scooting now... =0)

Kael can now put his arms up, touch his toes, and wave. It is really amazing! So far we love these videos. We'll give you more updates as the months go by.

Here is my baby watching the show.

New Stuff

Kael got to meet his new baby cousin Gemma for a few moments. She was so tiny!!! I can't hardly remember Kael being so small... Her dad Ryan had to compare the two of them. So cute! Of course Kael thought that her binky was his and had to try to get from her... Hmmmm...

We tried taking a few fun photos with Kael... We really had some problems... Between Kael's constant need to be grabbing things, my stupidity at making a picture centered, and a wiggly baby we got about 30 pictures and 1 or 2 ok pictures... It was a fun shoot though. I don't think I will ever go for the mommy hair cut... I don't like my hair getting pulled, but somehow Kael can grab Derek's really short hair and get a good grab on it, so it isn't going to be worth it....

Grandma Heaton provided this new fun toy for Kael to borrow. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! =0) Now Kael can be a little mobile! He LOVES being able to walk around with mom and play at the same time! This is a HUGE help when I am making dinner so Kael can still see me and play! He definately doesn't like not being able to see his mom at ALL times...

Another new toy is this bouncer we got Kael. It goes in the doorway and it lets Kael bounce the time away... He absolutely loves bouncing! He likes to show his mom and dad how good he is and will just think he is something special and laugh and laugh! It is a love hate thing though because it wears him out so fast and so much that he gets grumpy after a while and needs a nap, which doesn't bother me at all!

Thanks Derek!

I just want everyone to know I have the BEST husband! He is super sweet and takes such good care of me and Kael! We love you and thanks for all your hard work!

Happy Late B-Day And Talking

Derek turned 25 on Valentines Day! Quarter of a century... Big day in our house! We were slackers and didn't take any pictures... We had a great day though!
As of Friday the 13th Kael is officially trying to talk. It is still nonsense for the most part, but the other day I caught him saying mama!! It wasn't mumbled or jumbled or nonsense!!! He clearly said MaMa!!! I of course called Derek immediately so that maybe someone would believe that my 6 month old said mama... He was sweet and believed me. However it got better! I desperately wanted someone else to hear it so that I wasn't crazy! He said it 2 more times that day for Derek and me!!! I'm NOT crazy!!! It was great! The best feeling in the whole world!!! Then the next morning Kael was up at around 6:30 so I was bringing him to my bed and Derek was leaving to go to the couch because he had a rough night, and I promise when Derek left the room (this was on his b-day) Kael looked up from the bed and said, "DaDa"!!! I promise he did! Of course Derek had left the room and couldn't hear it, but he did say it....

Unfortunately since then he hasn't said either mama or dada, but he is trying really really hard! It is too cute! He really likes saying the ba sound and mmmmm. This is long, but it really was special to me!

I had a great Valentines Day! I was able to spend the whole day with Derek!!! He still had to do some homework, but it was just really relaxing and great getting to spend the whole day together! Also my sweet hubby got me flowers!!

I love you sweetie!!!

Motorcycle, family pictures, and 6 months

Oh ya, Derek got a motorcycle. We have been thinking about it for some time now, and we finally did it! He leaves the car we recently got home with me and takes this to school. We sold both of our cars and got a pontiac G6 Gt with a warranty that should get us through med school and this motorcycle should help us save on miles before we go. Derek has never had an interest to really ride a motorcycle, and he is SUPER safe with it. He has the helmet, leather coat, gloves, etc to help with safety. It is all the other crazy drivers we are worried about so we say our prayers every morning! So far it has worked pretty well for us.
Derek's dad got a 1957 porsche. So we had to take a picture in it!!! =0) Oh ya and Derek got a hair cut. He has had it long since we got married, so it was a big step for us!!! We miss the longer curls, but I love the new do!

This is our first real family picture! I just can't decide... I'll let you pick!

Can you tell I have a hard time picking my favorite picture? This is Kael exactly 6 months old. He is the cutest ever! We love him so much!

My stinkin cute little boy!

I've been working from home for my brothers for about a week now and Kael has been my super cute helper! He has been so good and I'm really blessed with such a sweet little boy! He gets tired working so hard though and he falls asleep playing half the time! Gotta love this boy!!

Kael has been learning new things as well... Hope you enjoy them as much as we do! Make sure and hit pause on the play list.

Formal Xchange

Sooooooo...... This picture isn't just to show how pretty I was in my wedding gown... My brothers created a web site to post formal gowns and dresses on the internet to sell for free. So if you know anyone interested in buying my wedding gown or even going through your closet girls and posting your prom dresses for FREE, it is totally worth it!!!
