Resolve Yourself

So this post is a little late in coming as it is the middle of January, but I've been thinking a lot about this topic and I just want to write down my thoughts. So many people either love or hate making resolutions each year. I like goals/resolutions, but I don't really care what people do or think. Here is what I have done though.

I have resolved to do better for myself.

I love and hate the month of January. It is such a horrible month. Really it is. I mean, all the festivities are over. The glamour of what life should be is gone. Here in Salt Lake it is snowy, wet, or cold. It is depressing. And mostly I just think January needs a pick-me-up.

It isn't completely horrible. I mean there are lots of birthdays to look forward to. But, what January is to me is a time to improve your mindset. Just because you don't complete your goals doesn't mean you shouldn't have them. It is a time to reevaluate what your priorities are. Where are you at. How are you doing? I love having a time in the year to do this very thing. This is what I love about January.

GOALS!

I don't usually physically sit down and write my goals out. I think writing them down is not a bad idea though. That way the next year you just reevaluate. See what worked, what didn't work, and mostly how to make the next year better. Who doesn't want to improve their life?! Life is about changes and improvement and making each day better.

So for me, I NEED January. I need time to think what can I be doing better? What needs work? What did I do RIGHT?!

So, thank you January. Even though I don't really like you, I do love you for the time to start fresh and kick off a new year of being resolved in my life.

June 1st. Missing Dad.

Dearest Derek,
Your Kael was too funny today. He was running around naked refusing to get in the tub as usual when I catch him going back into the bathroom and telling Eden "Get in tub Eden!" Then proceeding to, "No hitting Eden. No no Eden you time out. NOW! Go! You time out".

I think I have been putting him in time out a little too much lately. He likes to use what I threaten against him on Eden, and boss her around. I seriously thought I had a little more time before this happened. It was too cute, but is getting old that he is bossing her around. In the boys defense though she has been slapping him quite a bit when she is mad...

I haven't known how to explain to Kael where Dad is. While coming in from taking out the trash yesterday Kael thought it was Dad coming home and yelled out "DAD!", and was so disappointed that is was just Mom. A friend suggested today to get a map and then I can show him visually where Dad is. Kael helped me to color it and now I ask him to show me where Dad is on the map and he can show me. I thought this was a great idea. Tomorrow we are going to color in Ohio for Aunt Shelly. I want to start preparing him for our big journey the sooner the better!

Today was a good day. I had lots of help once again and I am so grateful. It was great that the kids were able to talk to you on the phone. They loved it! Kael talked about Dad for a while after that, and then we colored our map.

I'm missing me some Derek like crazy, but I can mark another day off of the calendar. I wish I could have sent the camera with you because I want to see a picture of you in your new uniform that you got today. wink wink.

Till tomorrow. Missin you! Lovin you!
Your wife.

Viva Las Vegas

Here are a few things we did on our trip to Las Vegas. We stayed at the Mandalay Bay Hotel. It was fabulous, but we would never have stayed there if we didn't get such a huge discount. The cheapest food was a sandwich for $15.00.
After checking in to our hotel we went to our favorite restaurant.
Then we got to see "The Lion King". Amazing.

Classic lean back and take a picture of yourself photo.
The next night we went with Stuart and Jane for The Tournament of Kings. Always a favorite.
Then we went back to :The Cheesecake Factory" the next day for lunch. I can't get enough of this place. Worth every penny.

After we ate we went to Circus Circus and went to the Adventure dome. We played laser tag about 15 times where Derek continuously won game after game, beating little kids, grown adults, teenagers, and of course me every time.
We then did a roller coaster twice, watched a Spongebob 4d, and another virtual reality show, and after that I was pretty sick and ready to come home to my babies, after another game of laser tag of course.

Kael and Eden had the best time with Grandma and Grandpa Heaton while we were gone and of course I forgot to take a picture after 2 years of not seeing them. And now I don't have ANY pictures of Eden with them... Good thing there is a family reunion this July.
This was such a fun get away and I'm so glad we were able to go. I really want to try to have a family trip once a year. Next year the kids can come with us! The whole trip I kept thinking oh Kael and Eden would love this or that. It was fun to go away, but I'm loving holding my kids and spoiling them rotten.
