October 2021

October 2021 Bass Pro Shop

General Conference is a family favorite. Finger foods, fun activities and listening to our prophet. The kids love getting all set up and comfy for it and basically listening to church in our jammies for two days straight. We love this special family time.

Derek had to go out of town in September and I Sharice was feeling mentally lousy, so Derek flew Shannon up last minute to come spend some time with our family. We had a lot of fun showing Shannon a little bit of Alaska.

Silly girls.
Honestly, I don't even remember how Elara bonked her head, but she did get a good goose egg.
However, cute nails and hair, and nothing will slow this girl down.
It snowed a lot very early on this year. Early winter for sure.
Pumpkin carving can happen earlier in October when you live in Alaska. As long as it freezes they stay frozen and don't rot very quickly so we got these babies carved and on the porch mid October.
The moose continue to visit us often.
Fresh roasted pumpkin seeds are a favorite for us now.
Elara drew a picture of nurse Jess that Derek works with. They had so much fun with her at a family event in July that the girls just adore her. It was super cute. They call her princess Tiana.
Dinner time.

October also brings nice warm fires to snuggle up by. The kids love to help get them started. Kael has become a pro. It warms us all up, and brings the best ambiance in the house.
Derek's office went bowling. We are all still in masks because of covid, but it is nice to get an occasional outing with a group even if it is in a mask.
Just because he could, he did.
Eden's beta fish she named Eithan after her new favorite book series character.
I should never have hit her in the head and promised her a fish. But, here he is.

The kids stopped almost all of there new out of the house homeschooling classes, except I let them attend at the back of the room with a mask for art class. It was so nice being able to paint a picture.
Christmas lights are up! It would be too cold to put them up any later, so they are there and will be left off until after Halloween.
Because who doesn't love snapping a photo of Mom asleep with her mouth hanging wide open?
This kid cracks me up. I love how much the kids love just snuggling up to a dog.

It is not hard to find moose driving around or just looking out the window.

Derek's office has a really great work environment with lots of really fun staff. They all dressed up for Halloween this year. Derek dressed up as Fat Thor.
The girls are going to be descendents characters Mal and Evie. They loved putting colored hair spray on their hair.
The girls also wanted to go really creepy and took old baby dolls and made them extremely creepy. Not my thing, but the girls had fun doing it, so there you go.

Connor got so tired, but loved being a race car driver
Cute girls as Mal and Evie, Connor a race car driver, and Kael just creepy.
The kids got to go to the ward Halloween party where they trunk or treated outside in the snow and it was cold and dark! But they all had fun and got lots of candy.
Derek got an award at work this month. Because he is awesome like that.
Eden really wanted to make me look creepy and a zombie, so she took an old dress and cut it up and put blood on it, and then I let her paint my face. She loved it, so I will call it a win.
The kids got so much candy from the trunk or treat.
The kids took care of a dog named Petey. They love playing with all kinds of animals.
The pumpkins all lit up.
October was a bit of a slower month, but sometimes we need those. It is just really nice to be with our forever family and spend time together.
