February 2021 North Pole Alaska Trip

February 1- February 4
Our first trip to Fairbanks/North Pole Alaska was definitely one to remember. Our first night we saw the aurora borialis. The next day we went ice fishing. The following day we went dog sledding, and then home the 4th day. The pictures will never compare to the memories in my head. It was such an incredible experience.

There was no wifi, so we played a lot of games and they had the 80's movie Gremlin's on DVD we watched. So much fun to get out of our normal.

It was SO cold. At night it would get close to -20 degrees F! And that was during the auroras. When we went dog sledding and ice fishing it was about -5 degrees! It was pretty incredible to experience that kind of cold.

When we went ice fishing we forgot to bring our really warm gloves, but it was too far of a drive back to the air bnb to grab them. Thankfully we had some mittens and the cabin was heated a little, but it was still freezing on our hands. We caught a few fish and the guide cooked them up for us right there. It was so much fun.

Day 3 is dog sledding day!

It was so cold our faces froze over, but it was so much fun! The dogs were incredible, and we all fell in love with them.
This trip will never be forgotten. We loved our time exploring Alaska and all it has to offer especially in it's frozen winter.
