January 2020

Eden, Kael, and Elara were trying so hard to save money for Disneyland and they took on the task of watching people's animals for them over the Christmas break to earn some extra cash. I am so proud of the kids and how hard they worked and loved on the animals they cared for.
This sweet kitty was with us for over a week and it was a lot of fun seeing her interact with the pugs and the kids loved having a kitty sleep by them.
We had so much fun having time off from school. Kael got a star wars puzzle for Christmas and we put together a lot of puzzles during the break and played a lot of new fun games.
Connor was worn out from having so much fun, that this is how he shops at Costco.
We had a lot of back and forth information on where we potentially might end up for the next 4 years of our military journey. We could either stay in San Antonio, Texas, move to England, or even potentially move to Anchorage, Alaska. We were told basically all were options and we were not sure where we would end up. After a couple of days of thinking one place, and then another on January 8th we found out where we will be the next 4 years.

We decided to tell our family by sharing with what we were going to eat for dinner.
Either BBQ for Texas, Fish and Chips for England, or Salmon for Alaska.

We ended up eating salmon for dinner that night.

We had a mix of emotions. We were sad to have the other options not as possibilities. Sad to leave Texas, sad to not try out England as an adventure, and yet we also had that thrill of adventure and some excitement. Every day the nervousness and excitement grows.
January always has some very nice weather and we enjoy the outdoors. The kids love jumping on a wet trampoline in the rain. Texas storms are the best!
Silly pictures at BaySeas with the kids. Always being silly.
On January 20th we said goodbye to Derek's old Honda Civic. We put it for sale and headed to buy a 2017 F150 truck for Derek. Knowing we were moving to Alaska we knew he would need a different vehicle. We were all pretty excited. It has towing capabilities, so we can pull fun things in Alaska, and has 6 seats so we all fit inside. The kids loved picking it up.
Out with the old and in with the new.

On January 21st we went with our friends the Webber's and Jaime Pinkston to another San Antonio Rampage Hockey game. We didn't get down on the ice this time, but we tried hard to get on camera, and it was a lot of fun for the kids and I.

The kids on the big screen.
The Webber's have become such fantastic friends and we are really going to miss their family.
Kael while homeschooled this year has been such a good sport taking Connor to the playground when he would come home from school. And sometimes big brothers need to take an occasional selfie.
We put training wheels on Connor's bike and he can finally keep up with us and ride around.
Kael helped me fix up this old bike we found someone throwing out. Eden asked for Mom to get a bike for Christmas so that she could go on bike rides with me, and so Kael and I helped her dream come true, and we've been enjoying family bike rides since.
Uncle Rob and Aunt Julie got our family a bird feeder for Christmas and it has been really fun seeing all the birds that come to the feeder.

AND FINALLY the adventure of a lifetime arrived. On January 31st we packed up and got on the road for California and DISNEYLAND!

Sometimes on long road trips boys just have to pee in the middle of nowhere. So, that's what all 3 boys did on this trip.

We tried to go swimming at the hotel in New Mexico that night, but it was WAY TOO COLD!
It said they had a pool, but it was about 40 degrees outside and they didn't heat the pool... We dared each other to put our feet in, but it just wasn't worth it to jump in.
First night on the road at the hotel. First stop.
